Still, single mothers oftentimes get a bad wrap. Some men choose not to date them because of their "baggage" and in instances where the child's father has gone AWOL, she's let to play both mother and father. To help us speak on the realities of being a young single mom on the dating scene we put stylist, actress and mother to two beautiful kids Weyni Elder of Weyni Style & Fancies to share her story. During the course of the conversation we touch on dating woes and wins, spanking versus beating your child, when a parent should have the dreaded birds and bees conversation, how to raise a child with someone you're no longer with, the perks of being a MILF and the legend of Red Lobster's cheddar cheese biscuits. However, the realities of living up to that is not something many people thing about—especially for someone who is just dating. Singer/poet/actress Shanelle Gabriel steps into the hot seat to share her struggles with lupus and how the disease has not only impacted her health but her dating life since being diagnosed. After Think Like a Man pulled in over $30 million at the box office in its opening weekend, it's only right that we dissect the chapters of Steve Harvey's best-selling book turned blockbuster movie. Namely, we tackle the 90-day rule that instructs women to wait at least 90 days before sleeping with a man for the first time to determine whether or not he likes her or what's between her legs. Along with an official NWSO review of the film, we tackle other related topics like how men deal with rejection and how much money a single man wastes on dating. After tackling a Dear NWSO from a woman who questions whether the father of her three kids will ever want more than just sex from her, we dig into the lack of real privacy in a world dominated by social media and how Deion and Pilar Sanders' marriage led to domestic violence. We live in a world where women are faced with constant hurdles but none are more troubling than the possibility of being sexually assaulted or raped. While many are afraid to discuss the realities of these acts of violence against women, recent headlines where women find themselves face to face with a rapist or susceptible to random gropings and assaults opens the door for a much-needed discussion. In an effort to open dialogue about the realities of what it means to be a woman in an oversexed society, we sit down with two women who bravely share their stories of rape and sexual assault. This is not a sob story but a story of survival and living with the emotional scars of rape. The statistics are scary, especially within communities of color. HIV/AIDS is a virus that has ravaged our community and claimed millions of lives in the process, still many people are unaware and uninformed about the realities of HIV/AIDS. To help correct that and impart knowledge on the people, the Naked Radio Show crew invited Verneda White of Human Intonation, an apparel line with a social message and charitable goal, and HIV/AIDS activist Maria Davis, who has been living with the virus for over 13 years. In this honest conversation, both women share their personal stories of being impacted by HIV/AIDS, what we need to do to stay protected, debunk the many myth and falasies that exist about the virus, why people need to realize that they are not Magic Johnson, and most importantly, what it's like to live with and lose someone to HIV/AIDS. Everyone wants to be in a relationship but not everyone knows how to make one last. It takes hard work, commitment and understanding. Take it from playwrights David and Jamillah Lamb, who are the creative force behind the longrunning off-Broadway play Platanos Y Collard Greens. The power couple recently penned their debut book, Perfect Combination: Seven Key Ingredients to Happily Living & Loving Together (available at ACoupleOfLambs.com). Married for the past 10 years, David and Jamillah share personal insight from the book and share their love story as a way to inspire listeners to figure out how to make their relationships work at home and in the workplace. In an open and honest interview, female-to-male transgender Tiq Milan, journalist and Editor-In-Chief of the lesbian lifestyle Ikons Magazine, discusses what it's like to walk in his shoes. We tackle everything from the differences between being transgender vs. transexual and sexuality vs. gender to acting like a "man" vs. being who you are and learning "man code" post-op to the dangers of coming out and the emotional impact of surgery not just on the individual but on their family and friends.
